Our powerful Data Transfer system helps you to get vehicle data from one place to the other:

Import inventory data from delimited text files (a common format supported by most data applications).
Import inventory data from Microsoft® Access™ databases.
Export inventory data to local delimited text files for importing into other software packages such as Microsoft® Excel™ or one of thousands of programs that support importing delimited text files.
Export inventory data in delimited text format to other services via FTP or email... DeskLot can even ZIP the file along with photo's.
Publish your inventory to the Internet as either customizable Standard HTML, to a Microsoft IIS web server with customizable ASP which uses a MS-Access database (view an actual clients implementation), or to a robust, highly functional, customizable and attractive WalkTheLot.com Internet inventory account.

The Data Transfer system even allows you to run a particular configuration at startup, upon exit, and can either overwrite existing inventory, merge the data, or append it to existing inventory. A great time saver for keeping your imported data or other services up to date with the latest automobile data.

DeskLot also supports data conversion on-the-fly when importing data, such as "PS" to "Power Steering", "AUTO" to "Automatic Transmission", etc, for those more complex imports or exports where the data needs to be shaped to conform to another program or service.

DeskLot by design has the functionality and flexibility needed to publish your pre-owned vehicle data to most every major inventory service. However, we do not focus on including pre-defined configurations or configuring configurations for dealerships. DeskLot is a do-it-yourself software package with all the functionality to accommodate most needs, and is priced accordingly. In most cases, you will have to contact the service you are exporting to and simply ask them for their "export specification sheet" which details how they want to receive their data and where and how they want you to sent it. With that information in hand, you can configure a DeskLot Data Transfer Configuration to do the export. In addition, our online support knowledge base is often updated with configuration samples and instructions as they come up, for example Importing from ADP® or Importing from Reynolds & Reynolds®.

Oftentimes we get contacted by another service to add their configuration to DeskLot. If your installation did not include that configuration, DeskLot users may download and import them for their use. If you are from another service and would like your service to be considered for inclusion in DeskLot, download a trial copy of DeskLot, create your export configuration, export it, and email it to us for consideration.

If you run into a major service that DeskLot does not have the functionality to publish to, let us know and in most cases we can add any needed functionality that DeskLot does not currently possess, normally within a couple of weeks. Certain restrictions may apply.
